The Walking Dead World Beyond: Season Two – Review
World Beyond is the third of the Walking Dead TV series and probably the hardest one to get into. It is not that it is bad, but it does have a different vibe.
It may be that the other series started with the dead being the threat and the humans only gradually becoming more dangerous. World Beyond has the dead as more of a background feature with the Civic Republic Military (CRM) as an established and advanced human threat.
I did like the second season better than the first. There was some significant development in the characters. The clearest sign of this is that in the first season, the teens were hesitant to kill the dead, and now they are even killing living people. That’s not a positive step.
Much of this season dealt with ethical questions. What kind of research is permissible? What steps can be taken to ensure the prosperity of the Civic Republic? How much can you compromise?
One of the interesting parts was the return of Jadis from the original Walking Dead series. She is much different here, but just as spooky. She is set up for an even greater role next season.
World Beyond is essential watching for TWD fans because of what they are doing with the CRM. In many ways, it is still finding its way as a show but it is making progress.
