Good News: Recovering Well
It has been about a month since I was in my ATV accident and I fractured a couple of ribs. I will say that the first two weeks (and especially the first few days) were pretty rough. I never realized how painful broken ribs could be.
But the past couple of weeks, and especially the last week, have included some rapid recovery. I am able to do far more than I had in the weeks before.
I finally have been able to help around the house and to even drive again. It was not long ago that it was terribly painful just being a passenger in a car.
Yesterday, I preached at two different churches, whereas, a couple of weeks ago I struggled to do just the welcome portion of the worship service.
I am even completely off pain meds now. That doesn’t mean that I’m pain-free, but it is not intense enough for me to still want to take meds.
This will sound strange but one good sign is that I can feel some of my previous aches and pains again from before the accident, that I have not been able to notice because of the ribs.
Am I completely healed and can I return to full normalcy? Definitely not. The ribs hurt and coughing is extremely painful. There is the danger that I will overdo it based on the recovery I have made.
However, I’m thankful for the recovery I have made and I look forward to becoming more active and enjoying some of this beautiful summer in Nova Scotia.
