Hanging With Baptist Chaplains
When I joined as a chaplain, there were three groups that needed to agree on me. There was the Canadian Armed Forces, the Royal Canadian Chaplain Services, and my Baptist faith tradition. This last one is important as I can only be a chaplain with their endorsement.
But this is not just an administrative issue.
As Baptist chaplains, we do things together. When we gather as Baptists, we can celebrate our faith in a way differently than when we are in a more general setting.
For the last number of years we have only been getting together online. This year, we got together in Cornwall, ON to encourage and support one another. It was a great time to visit with Regular and Reserve Force colleagues.
One of the things I appreciate about this is that we are not all from the same Baptist traditions. We have some doctrinal differences and yet we all want the best for each other and we work toward that goal.
I am thankful for my colleagues and for the chance we had to get together last week.
