Good News: Soldier Appreciation
One of the things that happen in army units at this time of year is the Soldier Appreciation Dinner, or some variety of it. It often includes the serving of food to soldiers by the officers, as a demonstration of our appreciation for them.
I am a chaplain at two units. Unfortunately, I was not able to attend the dinner for one of my units. But this past Saturday, I was able to attend the dinner for the other unit. It was a great time and I had a lot of fun at it.
Because that was a lunch meal, I was free to step in and attend another dinner that evening for another unit. One of the reasons that I get invited to these dinners, is to offer grace in my role as chaplain.
I joked that I was willing to eat two turkey dinners on Saturday as my sacrifice for my country. The truth is that I love my role as an army chaplain and I am thankful I get to be involved in multiple units.
