Good News: Youth Camp
Last week, I was at Oneida Baptist Camp for the entire week. This was not a relaxing getaway, although it was fun. I was there as a cabin leader for their youth camp (ages 10-15).
Because of COVID-19, this was their first week of kids camp since 2019. Normally they do an entire summer but this year they focused on just two weeks.
I had never been a cabin leader before. In fact, I had never really been to camp before. Aside from Boy Scouts, camp was not really a part of my experience.
It was exhausting but I had fun. I think I connected well with the kids. I definitely fed them a stead diet of ‘dad jokes.’ Youth ministry was what I did when I first became a pastor and it was nice to get back to my roots. I even had the chance to share my story of how I became a Christian.
While I’m definitely happy to be home, it was a great time. I’m so thankful for the work of Oneida Baptist Camp and the impact they are having on young people.
