The Magic of Harry Potter
People do not speak about Harry Potter so much any more, but we still enjoy it in our family. I have read many of the books to my sons and we have started watching the movies. And that is my good news!
My good news is not that the Harry Potter movies hold up well (the first movie came out in 2001). My good news is that it has provided some good quality family time. The lights were dimmed. Pizza was served at the couch. Cuddles were enjoyed under the blankets. And there was magic.
What is so great about watching a movie? Those early movies were pretty long and our kids have trouble getting through a TV episode without either losing attention or fighting. But we were able to have fun and peaceful time all together for a good chunk of time.
It may not be a big thing for most, but for us it is good news. Harry Potter apparently still has some magic left in him.
