My Bucket List

I’m getting to the half-century mark (not that I will admit that to my wife) and this makes me think about what I want to have accomplished in my life. As I write this, it is only a few days into the new year. People think about goal for the year and I have done that as well (see this post).
But there are some things that I would like to have accomplished any time during this life. Here is my bucket list. Some will hopefully be reached soon and some are beyond my control but here they are. They are in no particular order.
- Finish my doctorate. I am in the thesis writing stage for my Doctor of Ministry degree. My intention is to finish it this year.
- Visit every province and territory in Canada. I have travelled more around the world and in the United States than I have in Canada. In addition to living in Ontario, I have visited British Columbia, Alberta, Manitoba, Quebec and Nova Scotia. I don’t count the half hour I spent in New Brunswick. I would like to visit the rest eventually.
- Visit Israel. I have long desired to travel to Israel. There have been opportunities but none have worked out yet. I’m hoping for one day.
- Become a grandfather. I have no control over this. When we had only Logan and Abby, I had given up on the idea of being a grandfather as it is unlikely that they will become parents. But since then, we have brought three other children into our family. The oldest is only ten and so I have quite a while to wait, but I am looking forward to it happening eventually.
- Learn another language. Despite being a French Canadian on both sides of my family, I’m not bilingual. I’m interested in French, German and Spanish, but I would be happy to learn any of the three.
Those are currently the top five on my list. I will say that I have already accomplished much more than I had ever dreamed. I am thankful for every opportunity that has com my way. Still, I would not be disappointed if I experienced these five as well. This is my bucket list.
