Outer Range – Review
One of the series that I had been meaning to check out was Outer Range. I like science fiction but this did not look like typical science fiction. It looked more like a typical ranching drama, such as Yellowstone.
But do not be deceived, this is science fiction and some pretty wild science fiction at that. It revolves around the Abbott Ranch and the appearance of a hole. Not just any hole, but a time travelling hole.
That by itself may be a bit of a spoiler but there is much that I am not going to comment on. Much of the enjoyment of this series is in the unexpected plot twists. And there are a lot of plot twists.
I can say that there is an ongoing feud between the Abbott family and the Tillerson family. It could also be argued that this series is really about family, especially the relationship between fathers and sons. It also dives into the consequences of keeping secrets, even when one thinks that the secrets are protecting family.
The acting in Outer Range is outstanding. The quality of the series is that of a big screen movie. The plot is twisting but not out of control. The science fiction elements and the family dramas are woven together in a way that enhances each other.
My biggest complaint is that Outer Range ends with the second season and no plans for a third season. The story has not wrapped up and there are still many loose ends. Hopefully someone else will pick it up and continue the story.
