The Matrix Resurrections – Review
When the Matrix was released back in 1999, it was a game changer for both science fiction and action movies. Nothing would ever be the same. While the sequels were not as popular, they were still major accomplishments.
In many ways, the third movie ended on a satisfying note and did not really scream for a sequel. And yet recently a fourth film was released, The Matrix Resurrections.
This should have been a huge event and yet the release of a new movie from this beloved franchise did not have the impact expected. Many people did not enjoy it.
What did I think? I thought is was okay. I enjoyed it but near as much as even the second and third movies. There was nice special effects and fight scenes but it was not something that I was blown away by.
It was not as bad as some people claimed but not as good as many of us wanted. It felt more like an exercise in nostalgia. The studio wanted to tap into the fond memories we had of the original movies.
Is it worth watching? Definitely. It is a nice solid sci fi movie. Will it change your life the way the first movie did? Not at all.
