25 Goals for 2025
It is best practice, for many good reasons, to set no more than three goals at a time. Anything more than that gets unmanageable. I still believe that is the best way to go.
And yet here, on the first day of 2025, I am going to set 25 goals for myself. Why so many? Partially because that is my own quirky style. Also, I am not in my last ten years of my professional career, and I am feeling the pressure of time. Finally, I have numerous projects started and I hope this list will help me knock of at least some of them.
I am going to print off this blog post and hang it in my home office. I will check of items as I accomplish them and will report back here in one year to see how I did.
So here are the 25 things that I would like to accomplish in 2025.
- To go away somewhere with Amanda to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary.
- To take a trip somewhere with our daughter Emma to celebrate her upcoming graduation from high school.
- To see Logan and Abby in-person at some point in the year.
- To interview at least six authors or thinkers for my YouTube channel.
- To get my email inbox down to zero.
- To make some sales on my new online store.
- To return to translating passages from Greek and Hebrew as part of my sermon preparation at Brookfield Baptist Church.
- To record videos based on the proposals I made in my Doctor of Ministry thesis on disability ministry.
- To publish two journal articles.
- To finish writing one of the books that I have started writing. I would prefer it be two.
- To exercise at least five times a week.
- To train more Sentinels is my role as a military chaplain.
- To finish writing and publish a Bible study I am working on.
- To finish writing and publish an online course I am working on. This will be part of a series of online courses that I hope to sell here.
- To read 100 books during the year.
- To visit PEI.
- To go see a race with any of my children that are interested.
- To have at least 150 visits to my blog happening on a regular basis.
- To record and publish at least eight episodes each of my History of Christianity and Second World War podcasts.
- To find and do on a regular basis exercises to help strengthen my back.
- To learn about mindfulness and integrate it into my life.
- To purge my library of books I am no longer interested in and to find a suitable home for them.
- To offer a webinar on some topic that I have been researching.
- To begin to cook at least one meal per week at home and to be making at least two per week by the end of the year.
- To make at least one project out of wood to develop my woodworking skills.
That sounds like a lot and I do not know if I will accomplish all 25. But I do not see this as a succeed/fail list. It is about putting out some goals and seeing what I can do to take things to the next level.
