Good News: Encouraged to Take a Break
When COVID-19 hit, local church ministry was turned upside down. We went from live in-person services to recorded YouTube services. We went from visiting in person to phone calls and Zoom meetings.
There was part of this that I enjoyed. It was kind of exciting to be thrust into an unknown world that seminary hadn’t prepared for.
But then Amanda noticed something. I was tired during the day and couldn’t sleep during the night. I was just not myself.
Amanda (strongly) encouraged me to take time off. I couldn’t see how I could. We are in the middle of a pandemic!
But that’s the point. I am prerecording the services. I could record my sermon beforehand for a service I was technically off for and Amanda could do the other one.
I hadn’t realized how exhausted I was until the idea of taking some time off became real. I am only taking two weeks off but it is needed.
At some point, we are going back to in-person services and I need to be rested for that. I’m thankful for Amanda and my leadership team for giving me this rest.
