Good News: A Great Weekend
I enjoy my work as a reserve army chaplain. It allows me to keep my pastoral ministry and to serve in a different way. Most of my time is spent serving my units at the armoury, connecting with the troops as they train.
Aside from weekly training, there are also some weekend exercises. Most of the time, I can only attend a Saturday, if I can attend at all because of my church responsibilities. However, this past weekend I was able to arrange to stay all weekend.
One of the units that I support is the Nova Scotia Highlanders. This past weekend we went to CFB Gagetown with members of some other units, mostly the Cape Breton Highlanders.
It really was a great time as I got to know many soldiers and was able to dazzle them with my dad jokes. There were members there from many different stages of their careers and I enjoyed talking to all of them.
I’m thankful for my church that they allowed me to have the Sunday off to serve in my role of chaplain. It was a great time.
