Book of Boba Fett – Review
I am a big fan of the original Star Wars trilogy. One of my favourite characters was Boba Fett, even though he didn’t have a huge role. He just looked really cool and I was a bit sad when he “died” in Return of the Jedi.
But we found out that he didn’t die in the Mandalorian and that he eventually took over Jabba the Hutt’s operation on Tatooine. This set us up for Fett’s own series.
Based on comments on social media, there were many people who did not like this. My opinion is that the Book of Boba Fett was not the Mandalorian. Although there are some superficial similarities, they are very different stories.
This series was about Boba Fett trying to set himself up as Jabba’s successor and having to navigate the various crime syndicates on Tatooine. Not all of that took place through fights.
One of the things that I did like about this series was the flashbacks to his experience after escaping the Sarlacc pit and joining the Tuskan tribe. I quite enjoyed the development of their culture both in the Mandalorian and this series.
The final episode was quite satisfying. It brought everything together with lots of great characters joining in the last battle. It had that magic that makes Star Wars special.
This series continued the trend started in the Mandalorian of bringing in different parts from all of the movies and even the animated series. These two series are doing amazing job of tying in this shared universe.
The Book of Boba Fett was no Mandalorian. But it was a good series. Perhaps a bit slower than what some fans wanted but it carefully laid the groundwork for the climax. I think it deserves a good place in the Star Wars mythos.
