Good News: Glimmers of Light
I started my Good News posts a couple of years ago when I was going through a very dark time in my life. At that point, I posted daily about something that I could be thankful for that day as a way of coping with what was going on.
As time went on, life got better and I moved the Good News post from daily to weekly. Whereas many of the early Good News posts were difficult to come up with (sometimes it was just that I was alive), more recently the posts have been much easier. I am once again fully employed in a job that I love and worship with an incredible congregation. I am back in my hometown, which makes me happy. Things are going really well with our visits with Logan and Abby.
But that does not mean that all things are well.
Yesterday was a very difficult day. I would put it in my top ten darkest days. What happened? I’m not going to tell you. Although I have had people suggest I’m too honest about things that should be private, there are things in my life that are not open to everyone. However, if you know anything about the challenges our family has experienced over the last decade and a half, you will know it must have been a bad day.
Is there any good news? There were a number of little things. Things that I see as glimmers of light in a dark day. It included a number of people who rose to the occasion and helped in important ways. It included little “accidents” that prevented things from being worse than they could have been. There were hints of God active in the midst.
There is not much more that I want to say other than I am confident that God has not abandoned our family. This is good news. This is Good News.

You are long overdue for a beer with me and the skunk on my deck.
I was thinking about that recently. I do need to return your Randal Rauser book so that could happen!
May the glimmers of light multiply greatly in your life. I pray this in Jesus’ miraculous name. I’m PTL for your salvation and ministries!
Thank you. The glimmers have actually exploded into a bright flash. God has been faithful and things have completely turned around!
